Many of those we encounter each day are hurting, some may be struggling financially, some having been rejected in a relationship, some experiencing the loss of spouse or child.
We Christians, may be the only encounter they have with the love, grace and mercy of Jesus Christ, that which has been extended to us.
We are able to define “love” as laying down one’s life for another.
After all, that is how Jesus Himself defined it.
“For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another.”
1 John 3:11
There are many ways we can be love others in action, not just words.
We may volunteer, offer money or give some of time to help someone who is in need.
But to surrender our rights and even our privileges, that kind of love has to be supernatural.
"My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him."
We just don't see that kind of love often. But we did, however, see it at the Cross, so we have an example of it.
Today, I encourage you, to not just count your blessings, but to become a blessing to someone in need, today. If you have the ability to impact someone’s life and refuse to do so, that’s not mercy. That’s NOT Christianity, that’s religion.
