Good morning everyone!
We are in middle of our current series, that is entitled The Abundant Life and our focus scripture for the series is:
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
John 10:10
In this series, we are trying to understand just what Jesus was talking about when He said that they might have it more abundantly.
So today I want to focus our attention on this thought.... Open Windows.
I also want to share a verse in scripture with you that I believe will help us here this morning.
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it."
Malachi 3:10
This “Spiritual Law”is a promise from God to “open you the windows of heaven,”
It seems strange to me that the scripture here refers to Windows.
Since you don’t usually pass things through a window.
And you generally pass things through a door.
Doors are mentioned many times in the scriptures.
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
Revelation 3:20
Let’s think about this for just a moment.
What is a window used for?
First of all, it allows light enter into a dark place at the due time.
I don't know about you, but I like waking up to the light!
But without the light, you have to kind of fumble around in the darkness.
You have to create something artificial in order to be able to have some clearer vision.
But a window does a lot more than bring light into a dark situation.
It also gives you a view outside of your circumstances...
Now you may only be able to see what is happening within your circumstances,
but when you step up to the window, you will get a much different view than what you had before.
Through a window, you will get a much clearer understanding of the circumstances that surround you and ultimately control your life.
A window also allows us to view the outside weather conditions, so we can know how to dress.
But see a window does more than show you what is immediately outside, it also shows you what is off in the distance. For example, mountains, rivers, streams, forests..
All sorts of opportunities and possibilities
Opportunities that other people pass by every single day!
Options that other people never even get to consider!
And as you may have guessed, promises and potential that people without open windows never get a chance to see.
Jesus said when referring to the Pharisees, "Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
Matthew 15:14
Jesus was referring to religious teachers who could not see all that Jesus was offering to people.
Teachers of the scriptures who themselves had no ability to see the promises of God.
And Jesus said they are like blind people leading blind people and when this happens, they both fall into a ditch.
So why did they fall into a ditch?
Because there was no vision.
And where there is no vision, the people perish right?
And there was especially no spiritual vision!
So when Malachi speaks of the Windows of Heaven being opened…
He is saying that God is going to begin to show you some things that will keep you from falling into the ditch.
For us as believers, that’s the light coming into the room!
Have any of you ever been in a ditch?
Ever felt as though your like is stuck in a rut?
That the ruts are just too deep to climb out of?
Perhaps, you know others, who are always complaining about how bad life, their stuck in a ditch!
And how getting out seems impossible...
No matter how many times they’ve tried to pull themselves out, all attempts have failed..
Do you know what you need or they need, when you find yourself blind and stuck in a ditch?
You need someone with vision to lead the way!
Someone who will shed some light on your situation so you can see what you need to do to get out of the ditch.
And sometimes, that even means telling you some hard truths about your circumstances, whether you want to hear it or not...
You need a Heavenly Window to open up in your life....
Where light and vision, perspective and insight can enter into your situation...
Abraham in the scriptures, is called the Father of the Faithful.
In fact, Hebrews 11 accounts the great faith that Abraham had in God.
But God had to teach Abraham how to have faith.
And in Hebrews 11:1-2, it brings us to one of my favorite passages in Scripture:
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony."
And it is the book of Genesis chapter 12, we find the beginning of his story:
Now the Lord had said to Abram:
In fact many of these ways are already available to you, you just need someone to shine a light on them!
And it's likely, that some ways, are not yet available to you, they are still off in the distance, but they are going to be...
And now may the the Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
Now and forever, in Jesus' name
Amen

Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Let's look at, “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:”
God told Abraham, I’m going to shew you a place I want you to live.
A place of promise and possibilities.
A place where you and your family are going to be blessed.
A place of greatness
A place where curses are going to fall off your life.
A place where people are going to go out of their way to bless you and when they do, God said, I’m going to bless them.
Instead of being surrounded by people who are stuck in a ditch…
you are going to find yourself surrounded by people who are blessed; because of you and your great faith in God!
Instead of hearing all the murmurings of the ditch, you are going to hear the testimonies of people who have had some light and vision come into their life.
People who’ve had some miracles happen in their lives.
Wherever Abraham set his foot he was prospered!
God gave him the land he walked into for an inheritance for his children and their children’s children.
God gave him the land he walked into for an inheritance for his children and their children’s children.
Let's look again at Malachi 3:10
"and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be “room” enough to receive it."
The phrase "Room enough"
That’s not just talking about quantity,
That’s also talking about area and capacity!
That’s also talking about area and capacity!
In Malachi 3:10, God wasn’t just promising us quantity
He was promising to bless us in all the different areas of our life.
He was promising to bless us in all the different areas of our life.
There are those pastors and people who think Malachi 3:10 is just talking about God’s blessings on our finances.
He’s not just talking about your finances!
He’s also talking about your
Your home
Your marriage
Your relationships with other family members
Your children
Your job
Those you work with
Those you do business with
Those you buy from
Your church
The areas of ministry that you are involved in
Your time availability to serve other people!
Your home
Your marriage
Your relationships with other family members
Your children
Your job
Those you work with
Those you do business with
Those you buy from
Your church
The areas of ministry that you are involved in
Your time availability to serve other people!
Read and re-read Malachi 3:10 over and over, until you understand it...
God wants to bless you, in all kinds of areas of your life, in all kinds of ways!
Ways you never imagined before!
Ways you never thought or dreamed that were possible!
Ways you never even seen other people be blessed....
Ways you never thought or dreamed that were possible!
Ways you never even seen other people be blessed....
So He’s going to “pour out a blessing” through
Windows with multiple views!
Windows with plenty of opportunities!
Windows with new paradigms!
Windows with multiple views!
Windows with plenty of opportunities!
Windows with new paradigms!
Windows with new and clearer views to see new ways of looking at things!
Some ways, right up close to you...
Some ways, right up close to you...
In fact many of these ways are already available to you, you just need someone to shine a light on them!
And it's likely, that some ways, are not yet available to you, they are still off in the distance, but they are going to be...
But know this, they are there, but there’s just a few more things up front that need to happen in your life first before you can get to the blessings in the distance.
Remember His Words, "There shall not be room enough to receive it."
I don't know about you, but I am ready to reach the point in my life, where I look up and say..
"That's enough God, please STOP! I am already too blessed, and I can't handle any more!
I pray that through this message of hope and encouragement, I have been able to open up a new window, shine some light in some area of your darkness..
That now you have a new vision, you're able to see past your rut and see the glimpse of a new horizon, others can’t see what you see, but you certainly do, because a Heavenly understanding and perspective has been opened to you!
I’m always amazed, how sometimes, some people can’t see what is right in front of them…
I believe it's because they are not letting God open the windows of Heaven to them...
And now may the the Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
Now and forever, in Jesus' name
Amen
