Good Morning Everyone!
The last time we were all together, we were talking about the temptation in victory.
Or those mountaintop moments of our life, when something really good has happened and satan attacks us...
I believe I'm safe in saying, we've all experienced those...
Can I get an Amen?
Amen!
A quick recap of what we've learned so far..
First Season of Temptation takes place immediately after conversion. . .
Second Season of Temptation takes place when the pain of life settles in on us. . .
So when does the fourth temptation occur?
Anyone know?
Then the Fourth Season of Temptation will take place when the devil puts objects near us that will cause us to fall. . .
So can we guess what I've called this message?
Very good... your so close...
The Fourth Season—Objects for the Fall:
When he tempted Eve and brought her to fall, he used a tree. It was
something near that he took advantage of tempting her with. She was
near the tree and then put her eyes on it, focused her attention on it ...and then the dialogue with the
devil began.
The fact is that what gets the attention of our eyes will soon find its way into our minds, and guess what's next?
That's right!
It finds it's way into our
hearts.
It was an inordinate object, the tree!
It became her desire, that when Eve started looking at, focusing her attention on it, she fell.
When we get into a conversation of rationalizing and
justifying our sin, our evil actions, it won’t be long before we fall to the
temptation.
"Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life."
Proverbs 4:23
You have to fight with all of your heart.
"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."
Colossians 3:2
Judas fell with this moneybag.
Esau fell with the bowl of stew.
Demas fell with his love of the world.
Achan fell because of his longing for a wedge of gold and a garment.
You can count on it, the devil will place things, or people in your way that will
be heady and intoxicating to you. . .
And then he whispers go ahead, take it. . . use it. . come and get it. .
But it's all to the destruction of your spiritual health!
Failing to RESIST temptation will leave us open to SIN!
Temptation itself is NOT sin!
Giving in to that temptation IS!
Jesus was tempted, but He resisted the devil, until he fleed from Him!
How did He do it?
With the Word of God!
Temptation does not have to destroy you!
"But he who endures to the end shall be saved."
Matthew 24:13
"For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise."
Hebrews 10:36
And now may the the Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
Now and forever, in Jesus' name
Amen
