Understanding The Authority Of God Part Nine

Good Morning Family!

I'm so glad to have all of you here today.
Thank you for joining us!

If you are here for the first time, I do not believe it's by chance or accident,
I believe it's by the divine work of our Father and the Holy Spirit..
And I pray that you will come join us again next time we meet...

Dear Holy and Blessed Father, in heaven,
We, Your children are gathered today in this place, and come before Your Throne.
Though we are unworthy of Your goodness, but through the grace of Your Son, Jesus,
may we be made worthy by Your name.
Oh, Lord, we come asking for Your forgiveness and Your mercy.
That we would be sanctified and made holy through You.
As we continue our worship of You this morning, may Your glory overshadow our worries and anxieties, allow us to know Your presence as we experience Your blessings.
Amen

Let's open to the Word of God, shall we?

The Family...
"Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church."
Ephesians 5:22-32

Church, I would like to start off by saying that Submission is not a dirty word! Nor is authority a license for tyranny!

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord."
Ephesians 6:1-4

The Christian Home:

"Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.
Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.
Father, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God."
Colossians 3:18-22

WE SHOULD NOT AND CAN NOT IGNORE THE AUTHORITY THAT GOD HAS PLACED IN THE HOME!

God has chosen the man to be the delegated authority, the woman to represent the church
And might I add that would be almost impossible UNLESS a woman sees God’s authority in her home. I know many of you aren't going to like this but...
The REAL issue is your submission to God, not your husband.
So, who then are you submitted to, if not to God?

Qualities of a Sound Church:

"But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded."
Titus 2:1-6

Remember the first commandment with promise?

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you."
Exodus 20:12

Submission requires revelation or it's misery!

Submission to Husbands

"Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror."

A Word to Husbands

"Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered."
1 Peter 3:1-7

Called to Blessing

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. For
“He who would love life
And see good days,
Let him refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit.

Let him turn away from evil and do good;
Let him seek peace and pursue it.

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their prayers;
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

IF WE WILL HONOR THE AUTHORITY OF GOD IN OTHERS, HE WILL HONOR IT IN US!
Delegated Authority is such a critical matter!
We cannot reject delegated authorities & then attempt to obey God directly.
REMEMBER THE PARABLE OF THE MASTER THAT SENT HIS SERVANTS & SON in Luke chapter 20?

Jesus’ Authority Questioned

"Now it happened on one of those days, as He taught the people in the temple and preached the gospel, that the chief priests and the scribes, together with the elders, confronted Him and spoke to Him, saying, “Tell us, by what authority are You doing these things? Or who is he who gave You this authority?”
But He answered and said to them, “I also will ask you one thing, and answer Me: The baptism of John—was it from heaven or from men?”
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.” So they answered that they did not know where it was from.
And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

The Parable of the Wicked Vinedressers

"Then He began to tell the people this parable: “A certain man planted a vineyard, leased it to vinedressers, and went into a far country for a long time. Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the vinedressers, that they might give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the vinedressers beat him and sent him away empty-handed. Again he sent another servant; and they beat him also, treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed. And again he sent a third; and they wounded him also and cast him out.
“Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Probably they will respect him when they see him.’ But when the vinedressers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.’ So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. Therefore what will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and destroy those vinedressers and give the vineyard to others.”
And when they heard it they said, “Certainly not!”
Then He looked at them and said, “What then is this that is written:
‘The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone’?

Whoever falls on that stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”

And the chief priests and the scribes that very hour sought to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people—for they knew He had spoken this parable against them."
Luke 20:1-19

In closing...

Look, even though some of you may not like it or agree with it, but it is what the Scripture says...
Don't take it up with me, take it up with God in PRAYER.

God views those that reject His delegated authority as rejecting the authority of God Himself.
There is no way around it!
Even after God confronted Saul Himself, on the road to Damascus, He then placed him right back to His delegated authority, which was Ananias!

Let me just put it this way...
IF GOD DARES TO TRUST MEN WITH HIS AUTHORITY.. HOW DARE WE IGNORE IT!

We must dare to obey.
Step out & trust Him.
Our Job is to acknowledge it!

However, to those in authority...
IF GOD'S AUTHORITY IS MISUSED, REST ASSURED GOD WILL CORRECT IT!
You will be dealt with!

Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones,
And do My prophets no harm.”

Psalms 105:15

And now for the blessing

And now may the Lord bless you and keep you;

the Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

Now and forever, in Jesus' name
Amen

You Can't Quarantine The Word of God

" 35  Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He got up, went out, and made His way to a deserted place. And He was praying there. 36  Simon and his companions went searching for Him. 37  They found Him and said, “Everyone’s looking for You!” 38  And He said to them, “Let’s go on to the neighboring villages so that I may preach there too. This is why I have come.” 39  So He went into all of Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. 40  Then a man with a serious skin disease came to Him and, on his knees, begged Him: “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” 41  Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched him. “I am willing,” He told him. “Be made clean.” 42  Immediately the disease left him, and he was healed. 43  Then He sternly warned him and sent him away at once, 44  telling him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer what Moses prescribed for your cleansin

The Power Of A Humble Prayer

" Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you; 2  and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith. 3  But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one . 4  We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command. 5  May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ."
