Understanding The Authority Of God Part Twelve

Good Morning Everyone!

I am so very thankful you're all here today!
God is GOOD!
Amen?

Heavenly Father,

Bless your children as we gather to worship and exalt You!
Let us reject evil and sin in all forms that it presents itself in the power Your name.
We pray for Your grace so that we may do good works in Your name. Fill us with Your power and glory. Open the windows of heaven and rain from the storehouse Your blessings.
Let us be refreshed through You.
We look forward to each fellowship with enthusiasm because it is our chance to know and serve You.
Thank You for always being faithful to us, even when we fail to be faithful You.
In Jesus’ Precious and Holy Name
Amen.

Well, unless God has other plans, and sometimes He does...
We'll be wrapping up this sermon series on
Understanding the Authority Of God..

I was beginning to feel like it was one of those Rocky movies
You know the one that just won't go away..
(laughter)

All jokes aside as you can see, as long as the Holy Spirit is giving you a message..
I don't care how many weeks, months and years it goes on..
YOU TEACH IT!

So let's start shall we?

God has always worked through men, but men are not to do as they please!
They must give account!
Man supervising God’s creation in harmony with his word. Worked great, until man blew it.

People wreck God’s established order when they choose who and what they wish to obey!
Whenever a church gets a “buffet attitude” things are thrown off course..

So why does this happen?

Let's look at what Scripture says ..

"For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."

Carnal minded people do not like being told what to do!

Want see something interesting?

"So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."

Image = resemblance - representative figure

"This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. After he begot Seth, the days of Adam were eight hundred years; and he had sons and daughters,"

Adam was originally made in God’s image… But rebellion wrecked that!
JESUS HAD TO RESTORE THIS HOPE FOR HUMANITY.

"in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins."

But from Eden forward, man’s rebellious nature would be born into us.
Calvary’s blood takes care of our sin problem, HOWEVER, the battle over the rebellious nature goes on.

"The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

Our Final Victory

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption."
1 Corinthians 15:47-50

God requires man to obey his administration via his administrators
Now who are the authorities in your life?
This is why you'd better know...

"Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

Prayer Requested

Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. But I especially urge you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.

Benediction, Final Exhortation, Farewell

Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
And I appeal to you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation, for I have written to you in few words. Know that our brother Timothy has been set free, with whom I shall see you if he comes shortly.
Greet all those who rule over you, and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you.
Grace be with you all. Amen."
Hebrews 13:15-25

It is interesting to note that the specific authority to submit to here is the authority that watches out for your souls… Who is that in your life? Who are you submitted to?
Put a face to your submission!

"But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’

“So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for MeWhen I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Nevertheless if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
“Therefore you, O son of man, say to the house of Israel: ‘Thus you say, “If our transgressions and our sins lie upon us, and we pine away in them, how can we then live?”
Ezekiel 33:6-10

Notice: A watchman warns but people must make up their own mind to obey!

"Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

Various Exhortations

And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all."
1 Thessalonians 5:11-15

PEOPLE CAN CHOOSE TO CLOSE OUR EARS TO THE PULPIT!

Oh not me pastor… Really?
We close our ears by not obeying what is being taught, which is the Word of God through a man, which we don't want to hear what is being taught!

The result is: Our conscience no longer wrestles, we begin choose, for ourselves, what we like and what we dislike.. rather than obeying God's authority.
This is a very dangerous practice in the long, in fact, it's just damaging in the short also..

"For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my membersO wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin."
Romans 7:22-25

Church, it's time we face our carnal natures!
Paul said "I die daily"… We are tested by trials and frustrations around us
I MUST DIE DAILY AND SUBMIT TO HIS WORD, TO HIS AUTHORITY IN MY LIFE!
The battle against the carnal man is ongoing… You must submit yourself to His will daily!

My point is this: If you do not continuously crucify your stubborn desires for self rule you will not only destroy yourself but your entire household!
It will fail under the pressure!
Collapsing like a house of cards...

YOUR MARRIAGE WILL DESTRUCT
YOUR CHILDREN WILL REBEL
YOUR POSSESSIONS WILL ALL FALL AWAY…

In closing...

My purpose is to teach the Word of God, and God's Authority
and there are some who won't listen, and some who won't listen to anyone but me..
Is a qualified Elder's council not good enough?
If not, then after a while, nor will mine be..

Because once you learn to ignore a delegated authority it becomes easier to ignore the next level up!

Here is a principle for a lifetime…
SUBMISSION IS ABSOLUTE, BUT OBEDIENCE IS RELATIVE!

To further clarify this,  Submission is a matter of attitude - whereas obedience is a matter of conduct!

And now may the Lord bless you and keep you;

The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you

The Lord life up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

Now and forever, in Jesus' name
Amen

You Can't Quarantine The Word of God

" 35  Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He got up, went out, and made His way to a deserted place. And He was praying there. 36  Simon and his companions went searching for Him. 37  They found Him and said, “Everyone’s looking for You!” 38  And He said to them, “Let’s go on to the neighboring villages so that I may preach there too. This is why I have come.” 39  So He went into all of Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. 40  Then a man with a serious skin disease came to Him and, on his knees, begged Him: “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” 41  Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched him. “I am willing,” He told him. “Be made clean.” 42  Immediately the disease left him, and he was healed. 43  Then He sternly warned him and sent him away at once, 44  telling him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer what Moses prescribed for your cleansin

The Power Of A Humble Prayer

" Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you; 2  and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith. 3  But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one . 4  We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command. 5  May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ."
